Privacy Policy
Spekko™ is a personal AI assistant made by Tethro Inc., a Texas corporation ("Tethro", "we", "us"). This policy explains what Spekko collects, how it's used, and the choices you have, including for text messages.
What Spekko keeps
- What you tell it: your conversations with Spekko, the tasks, reminders and plans you ask for, and the things it remembers about you so it can help.
- Your devices: the computers and phones you pair with your Spekko, so it can reach them.
- Phone and text: if you turn on calls or texting, your phone number, plus transcripts of calls and texts with Spekko. Spekko does not record call audio.
- Moments: when you clearly love something Spekko made or found, or ask it to bookmark something, it keeps a moment: your words, why you liked it, and a frozen copy of that exact version (small files, links, and the version they were at).
- Skills and routines: the things you teach Spekko and the schedules you give it.
Where it lives
Spekko's memory, conversations, moments and their frozen copies, skills and routines live on your own computer (the one Spekko runs on), in your user folder. We don't keep a copy. Information that travels between your devices goes through our relay end-to-end encrypted, so we can't read it on the way, and the relay doesn't store it.
When Spekko updates itself and needs to change how its data is laid out, it first saves a copy of its data on the same computer, so it can put everything back exactly as it was if the update fails. It keeps the last five of these copies, on that computer only.
The waitlist
If you join the waitlist on spekko.ai, we keep your email address, when you joined, and where you came from (for example, a link we shared). We use it only to tell you when Spekko is ready for you. Every email we send has an unsubscribe link, and using it deletes your address from the list.
How it's used
Only to run Spekko for you: answering you, doing what you ask, and telling you when something you asked for needs you. We don't sell your information, and we don't use it for advertising.
To answer you, Spekko sends the relevant parts of a conversation to the AI and voice providers it's built on (Anthropic for language, ElevenLabs for its voice). For calls and texts, it uses the phone provider you connect in your own account (for example Telnyx); texting isn't included with Spekko, and your provider bills you directly. These providers process information to provide the service, under their own terms.
Notifications on your iPhone
If you allow notifications, your iPhone gives Spekko a device token, an address Apple uses to deliver notifications to that phone. Spekko keeps the token on your computer, for that phone only, and never puts it in logs or exports. When something new needs you, Spekko sends the token and a short line about it (for example, the question it's asking you) through our notification service to Apple's Push Notification service, which delivers it to your phone. Our service passes it along and doesn't store it. Remove the phone from Spekko, or turn notifications off in iPhone Settings, and the token is dropped.
The morning brief
Once a day (8 am by default) Spekko posts a short brief in your chat: what it did and what's waiting for you. It's made on your computer from what Spekko already has, and you can turn it off in settings.
The health check
Spekko's settings can show whether it's healthy: its version, how long it's been running, whether its data is up to date, whether the relay, phone line and notifications are connected, the next routine, and the most recent error, with anything sensitive removed. This stays on your computer and your own devices; it isn't sent to us.
Text messages (SMS)
What you get: if you turn on texting in the Spekko app, Spekko texts your own phone number about your own tasks and reminders, and replies when you text it. Spekko texts only you, the account owner, never anyone else, and never marketing.
How you opt in: in Spekko's settings, you enter your mobile number and tick an unchecked box agreeing to receive texts. We then send you a confirmation text.
Frequency and cost: Message frequency varies with what you ask Spekko to do. Message and data rates may apply.
Help: reply HELP for help, or see spekko.ai/help.
Stop: reply STOP (or CANCEL, END, QUIT, UNSUBSCRIBE) at any time to stop texts. We'll confirm once and send nothing more. Reply START to turn them back on.
No sharing: No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Text messaging originator opt-in data and consent are not shared with any third parties.
Carriers aren't liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
Your choices
- Forget: ask Spekko to forget anything, or delete what it remembers in the app.
- Export or delete everything: from the app's settings, at any time. An export is a file on your computer; device tokens and keys are never included.
- Skills and routines as a file: you can export the skills and routines you made and import them into another Spekko. Importing checks the file first and never runs anything: imported routines arrive paused until you turn them on.
- Moments: forget a moment and its frozen copy is deleted too.
- Devices: remove a paired device and it's signed out at once.
Security
Keys and passwords stay in your computer's own secure store, and traffic between your devices is encrypted. Anything Spekko does that sends, pays, deletes or posts waits for your approval.
Children
Spekko isn't for children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their information.
Changes
If this policy changes, we'll update the date above, and tell you in the app if the change matters.
